SilverStone RV03: The Albino Edition
The awesome
RV02 now has an albino brother, the RV02W-E, that's entirely swapped its dark bits for pearly white ones. It's been dipped in
Daz and is now
very bright. Frankly that makes a nice change to seeing a-n-other all black case, although we'd perhaps opt for the black outsides with white insides, if not only to hide the inevitable scuff marks of use.
The fan controls can be accessed in the top without removing the roof lid
The now standard AP180 fans and drive cages are still black though, so provide some contrast, and with the insides being so bright, it's much easier to see what you're doing when building a system inside the case.
As
a few people have recently found out on their recently purchased black RV02, the front buttons at the top have been changed to make them smaller. SilverStone explained this is because people complained that the original large buttons were too easy to accidentally press, so the company made them harder to press, but then people thought the buttons were too unresponsive or broken. So this is actually the
third redesign: a shallow, responsive click, but physically smaller requiring a more accurate press! Now how does that suit everyone?
SilverStone bundles it uber AP fans now as standard - just like on the normal, black RV02
In additional there has been another minor update - a reinforcing bar has been inserted between the rear I/O panel and expansion slots because SilverStone found some people were picking up the case by getting a grip under the rear I/O panel, causing the case to twist under its whole weight.
Revised buttons and a reinforcement bracket to strengthen the case
Apart from that it's entirely the same as the original RV02, so there's still no USB 3. SilverStone explained to us that none of its cases would be getting USB 3 till it could use an internal connector, as it believes a case investment would outlive an upgrade cycle or two.
